Common name: Salvia RASPBERRY DELIGHT®, RASPBERRY DELIGHT® hybrid bush sage
Family: Lamiaceae (Mint)
Distribution: Cultivated
Hardiness: USDA Zone 6 (-10 to 0 °F)
Life form: Herbaceous perennial

Growing Conditions: This everblooming salvia hybrid grows in well-drained soils of average or low fertility. It grows in full sun, but appreciates afternoon shade in hot summer climates. It performs best with regular watering, but tolerates some drought. Plants may not be fully hardy in Zone 6 and should be planted in protected locations and mulched in winter. Plants may be more cold-hardy when established. The plant may produce viable seeds, but seedlings may not resemble the parent. This plant is propagated vegetatively.
Description: Salvia RASPBERRY DELIGHT® grows 2-3 feet tall and wide. A hybrid between S. greggii 'Furman's Red' and a high-altitude collection of S. microphylla from central Arizona, it is very similar in appearance to its S. greggii parent. It is a multi-stemmed, branching, semi-woody plant with small, paired, elliptical, aromatic leaves that persist to some extent through winter. It blooms throughout summer until frost. The raspberry-red flowers are borne on stalks and have 2 lips, with the lower lip enlarged and lobed.
